Why is my school adopting a uniform policy?
We have to wear polo’s and khakis.
I have to say this violates the freedom of expression as guaranteed by the U.S constitution, some might say that there is other ways to express yourself, but why limit the possibilities. They claim they keep you safer and what not, but the uniforms have NEVER been proven to have a positive effect on school environment, in contrast, there was a negative effect on the school environment. I was made fun of last year, and never ONCE was I made fun of because of what I wear. The School board gets it all wrong, Us kids these days never make fun of what some one where’s, but rather the content of their character.
And Gangs can still be gangs with uniforms. It it so ludacris that schools like Pleasant Valley School District, Have to focus on what we wear, we have so many problems that will be negativly affected by this uniform policy.
So if kids act up, and the write ups go up, will they remove it? OR
If kids are good, will they remove it?
Unfortunately the “grownups” at your school feel that tyranny is more important than the freedom to wear what you want within reason. Gang colors on clothes will not happen so they think. Gangs will find a way believe me. I saw it at my school in Miami when they tried but the gangs just do other things.
My friends dad had a clothing store one block from school. he put a big sign up for 3 uniform “styles” and made bank!!! I’ll bet clothing stores are watching this as a rent seeking (look it up) opportunity.
The question is whether or not this is reasonable. Many professions require uniforms for work. Cops, firemen, hazmat guys, etc.
If I were you, I would stage a protest during break. Stay above the law and use you freedom of speech. Thick headed adults will come to reason. Use your parents to help build a case. Dont quit. Good luck!
