A-6A Intruder $159.99 Development on the A-6 Intruder started in 1957, after the U.S. Navy issued specifications for an all-weather attack aircraft that would replace the A-1 Skyraider. Since being accepted into military service in 1963, the A-6 Intruder has seen combat with U.S. forces in a variety of roles, primarily as an attack aircraft. The Intruder was used as an attack aircraft throughout the entire period of direct American involvement in the Vietnam conflict, with 84 total losses, including 58 to enemy fire. The A-6 has also seen combat operations in Lebanon (1983), Libya as part of Operation El Dorado Canyon, and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, as well as Somalia and Bosnia. Intruders were retired from the attack role in the mid 1990s, however they continue in use as EA-6B Prowlers in the electronic warfare role. The Intruder modeled here is the initial A-6A variant, as used in the Vietnam Conflict. Painstaking detail work and quality construction will make this model a prime selection for any collection. American Empire: Blood and Iron $6 AMERICAN EMPIRE: BOOK ONE Twice in the last century, brutal war erupted between the United States and the Confederacy. Then, after a generation of relative peace, The Great War exploded worldwide. As the conflict engulfed Europe, the C.S.A. backed the Allies, while the U.S. found its own ally in Imperial Germany. The Confederate States, France, and England all fell. Russia self-destructed, and the Japanese, seeing that the cause was lost, retired to fight another day. The Great War has ended, and an uneasy peace reigns around most of the world. But nowhere is the peace more fragile than on the continent of North America, where bitter enemies share a single landmass and two long, bloody borders. In the North, proud Canadian nationalists try to resist the colonial power of the United States. In the South, the once-mighty Confederate States have been pounded into poverty and merciless inflation. U.S. President Teddy Roosevelt refuses to return to pre-war borders. The scars of the past will not soon be healed. The time is right for madmen, demagogues, and terrorists. At this crucial moment in history, with Socialists rising to power in the U.S. under the leadership of presidential candidate Upton Sinclair, a dangerous fanatic is on the rise in the Confederacy, preaching a message of hate. And in Canada another man–a simple farmer–has a nefarious plan: to assassinate the greatest U.S. war hero, General George Armstrong Custer. With tension on the seas high, and an army of Marxist Negroes lurking in the swamplands of the Deep South, more than enough people are eager to return the world to war. Harry Turtledove sends his sprawling cast of men and women–wielding their ownfaiths, persuasions, and private demons–into the troubled times between the wars. “From the Hardcover edition. |

Angle of Repose $10 A deeply moving novel that, through the prism of one family, illuminates the American present against the fascinating background of our past Angle of Repose tells the story of Lyman Ward, a retired professor of history and author of books about the Western frontier, who returns to his ancestral home of Grass Valley, California, in the Sierra Nevada. Wheelchair-bound with a crippling bone disease and dependent on others for his every need, Ward is nonetheless embarking on a search of monumental proportions — to rediscover his grandmother, now long dead, who made her own journey to Grass Valley nearly a hundred years earlier. Like other great quests in literature, Lyman Ward’s investigation leads him deep into the dark shadows of his own life. |

Been Rich All My Life $14.96 The Silver Belles are one of America’s most unusual and inspiring dance troupes. Comprised of five women between the ages of 84 and 96, The Silver Belles are veteran tap dancers and chorus girls who first got to know one another when they performed in some of New York’s hottest nightspots during the Harlem Renaissance of the ’30s, sharing stages with the likes of Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, and Jimmie Lunceford. The dancers — Bertye Lou Wood, Cleo Hayes, Elaine Ellis, Fay Ray, and Marion Coles — toured the country with different shows and entertained American troops in Europe during World War II, but when Big Band jazz fell out of favor and nightclubs stopped using chorus dancers, most of the women took up other work. But the women stayed friends, and in 1985 the retired hoofers decided to put their tap shoes back on. With the help of their manager and friend Geri Kennedy, they’ve been performing regularly for over a decade, keeping the traditions of jazz dancing alive and challenging stereotypes about the elderly. Been Rich All My Life is a documentary which looks at the illustrious past and surprising present of The Silver Belles, and offers a glimpse at these five remarkable women as they share their love for dance and confront the challenges that still face them. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide. Clint Eastwood Collection (10-Disc Collector’s Edition) (Blu-ray) $95.96 The “Clint Eastwood Collection” includes “Absolute Power”, “Dirty Harry”, “Gran Torino”, “Kelly’s Heroes”, “Letters From Iwo Jima”, “Million Dollar Baby”, “Mystic River”, “The Rookie”, “Unforgiven” and “Where Eagles Dare”. “Absolute Power”: He was there when he shouldn’t have been and saw what he shouldn’t have seen. Now, who will believe the word of a career thief and ex-con? Who will trust Luther Whitney when he says he saw a woman killed and that the man responsible for her death is the President of the United States? “Dirty Harry” is the gritty and suspenseful film that follows the story of Inspector Harry Callahan. The City by the Bay faces the terror of a serial killer known as Scorpio, who viciously snipes at innocent victims and demands ransom through notes left at the scene of the crime. “Gran Torino”: Korean War vet and retired autoworker Walt Kowalski doesn’t much like how his life or his neighborhood has turned out. He especially doesn’t like the people next door, Hmong immigrants from Southeast Asia. But events force Walt to defend those neighbors against a local gang that feeds on violence and fear. “Kelly’s Heroes”: They were goldbricks until they found out about the gold bricks – a fortune in Nazi-confiscated bullion! Clint Eastwood stars in this alternately action-filled and tongue-in-cheek tale of GIs who decide to get something extra out of the war. “Letters From Iwo Jima”: Nominated for 4 Academy Awards(R) including Best Picture, Clint Eastwood’s “Letters From Iwo Jima” tells the untold story of the Japanese soldiers who defended their homeland against invading American forces during World War II. “Million Dollar Baby”: “I don’t train girls,” boxing manager Frankie Dunn growls. But Maggie Fitzgerald wins his respect and earns her shot at success in a bravura tale that’s as much about family as it is about the “sweet science.” “Mystic River”: From the same side of the tracks… to opposite sides of the law. Minding the Store $14.33 “‘There is never a good sale for Neiman Marcus unless it’s a good buy for the customer.’ That was one of the first declarations of business philosophy I heard my father, Herbert Marcus, make soon after I came to work at Neiman Marcus in 1926″. Thus began the 1974 edition of Minding the Store. Reprinted in hardcover in 1997 to celebrate the ninetieth anniversary of Neiman Marcus, it is now available for the first time in paperback. Marcus has spent most of his life not only in helping to create a retailing enterprise renowned throughout the world as the epitome of quality, but also in setting high standards for the level of taste of all who desire “the better things in life”. In doing so he has played a key role in making Dallas itself a success. “Mr. Stanley”, as he is affectionately called by all his Neiman Marcus friends and associates, has made The Store a legendary success. Although he retired from active involvement in Neiman Marcus in 1977, the influences of the philosophies of business he developed remain an important part of the training of Neiman Marcus personnel. Those basic principles — best exemplified by his belief in his father’s business philosophy — are the reasons Neiman Marcus is today recognized as the taste leader of American retailing. Minding the Store is a warm portrait of a man and an exuberant celebration of the store that has become the best-known landmark in Texas since the Alamo. |

The Coral Sea 1942: The First Carrier Battle $16.96 The Battle of the Coral Sea is unique in the annals of naval history. It is the first battle in which enemy fleets never came within sight of one another. Instead, aircraft launched from carrier decks were sent out to attack the enemy with bombs and torpedoes. In May of 1942, the Japanese fleet moved on Port Moresby, the last Allied base between Australia and Japan. Forced to respond, the Americans sent two aircraft carriers to protect the base. In the ensuing battle, one American carrier was destroyed and the other severely damaged. However, the Japanese also lost a carrier and decided to withdraw. Although bloody, it proved to be an important strategic victory for the Allies as the Japanese were forced to attempt future attacks on Port Moresby over land. Using the latest research and numerous period photographs, retired USN Commander Mark O. Stille tells the story of this important and unique battle in the Pacific War. |

XB-70 Valkyrie $136.99 The XB-70 program is one of the most iconic Cold War test programs, and is possibly one of the most well-known military test programs in history. With its futuristic, almost science-fiction shape, and promising Mach 3 speed, the XB-70 was very near to full-scale production when the project was canceled. As surface-to-air missiles improved in the late 1950s, the decision was made to halt the B-70 program that the XB-70 was prototyping. The two prototype aircraft built continued to be used in a variety of other tests, studying particularly the effects of very high speeds on large aircraft. One prototype was destroyed in a mid-air collision in 1966, and the other was retired in 1969 and transferred to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The model presented here is painted just as the original aircraft were in the 1960s, with exacting precision. Any collector will prize the quality craftsmanship of this model, and treasure it for years to come.
