is this ok to put in a 10 gallon fish tank?
hi guys i bought a 10 gallon fish tank kit yesterday and i am going to get some fish today. i want it to keep a betta and platties and guppys but they said that the betta may attack the guppies so i dont want to risk. so would it be fine to put this fish in my 10 gallon tank?
2 ballon molly, 1 platy and 2 guppies? thax all of your answers will be appreciated.
The issue you have here is that if you go out today and buy fish, put them in your brand new 10g, the chances of them lasting past the weekend is slim! Your tank needs to go through the nitrogen cycle before its safe for fish. If you have another tank you can clone the filter media with that filter media for a week or two first, but if you’re starting from scratch it will take 2-6 weeks before it’s safe for fish. And while it’s going through that you can do more research. Platys, Mollies and Guppies are all livebearers, to breed any of these you need over 20-30 gallons. So for males only you need to either keep them alone or in groups of 5+. Mixing a few males like that in a small 10g is likely to result in chasing and bullying!
