How do I find the perfect wedding gown? I am so stressed and had no idea that this was so difficult! Help!?
My wedding date is set for August 14, 2010 and I was told to get an early start on finding a dress, but it is proving to be way more difficult than I imagined!
Remember how in Sex and the City Carrie changed her entire wedding plans because she got the designer dress?
Your dress really should fit the style of your wedding. Beach weddings, formal, informal, indoor, outdoor, vintage. Whatever feel you want your wedding as a whole to have your dress should reflect that too.
Also, I would stay away from picking out a silhouette before you go try stuff on. Don’t limit yourself to only strapless or only halters. Find the dress that suits you best.
Be open minded and relax. I tried on dresses at a couple different wedding stores and never even stepped into David’s Bridal (mostly because its very cookie cutter and I’ve had plenty of friends who hated how pushy the salespeople were). I ended up accidentally stumbling upon my dress while christmas shopping. It was off the rack from Cache (not even a wedding dress) and I paid $250 for it and only had to alter the hem.
My alteration lady was shocked when I told her what I paid for it because she had a bride come in not 2 weeks before with something very similar and paid over $1000. Which is basically what I thought I would have to pay for what I wanted.
Our wedding was in our old new orleans home, so I wanted my dress to feel kind of vintage/old lacey kind of deal. I eventually found mine, and you’ll find the perfect dress eventually too, just be patient and keep an eye open. It might find you when you least expect it!!
…And I can’t help but show off mine….I just love it so much!
