What kind of Doll would you get for a 3 year old?
Assuming that price didn’t matter (I have the chance to get a significant discount) would you buy an American Girl style (Gotz) doll for a 3 year old? The price difference with the discount means I wouldn’t really be paying more than just buying a random doll at Target – but is that type of doll right for a toddler? Would this kind of doll work, developmentally speaking, or should I wait until she’s older? Thanks!
Maybe I should clarify/repeat:
1. The doll isn’t too expensive, I have a big discount.
2. It’s not an AG doll. It’s an AG type doll, called a Gotz. Recommended for ages 3+. I am not buying an American Girl Doll – I would have to pay full price.
3. She’s 3, not Martian. She plays with toys.

There are a couple things to keep in mind when buying a Gotz doll. The first thing to keep in mind is that if your daughter wants a doll that she can brush her hair, then a Gotz doll is not the best choice. Gotz dolls, have extremely tangled hair, that tangles even when you condition it. Because of this, it’s a headache and a nightmare to brush their hair, so an adult will usually have to do it. Another thing to keep in mind about Gotz dolls is that the accessories are very tiny, and for a three year old, the tiny accessories are not the best choice.
Something to keep in mind, is that your three year old won’t know the difference between a Gotz doll and a regular doll that you play with. A regular baby doll that comes with some furniture and “chunky” accessories would be a better match for your three year old then something like a Gotz doll which has tiny accessories.
