I have bought some porceline indian dolls from a yard sale and would like to find out when they were made?
I was trying to find out more innformation on these dolls. The person I bought them from said they are very old but I am not to sure how to find out how old they are.
I wanted to answer your question, what is old to me may not be old to you. I sell and restore dolls back to the 1700′s. I have had Indian dolls in which were are around 8 to 9 inches tall that are bisque or porcelain. I refer to bisque because its not glazed. These were travel dolls for the travelers sold in the stores here in America. They were German made and imported by Borfield and Company. They did make some that were taller. On the back of the head if you lift up the wig there should be a mark number and maybe A.M as well. These were made around 1900′s in Germany.
Sometimes people think bisque is when its not, If you pull the arm some out then you can see the construction and the painting. Many times it will be composition instead.
