Shrimp questions, will they be friends?
A week or so ago, I purchased 3 ghost shrimp and Absolutely fell in love with them! The problem? They’re very hard to find on my white floor.
So I purchased 3 red crystal shrimp on line from liveaquaria.com. 2 of 3 arrived alive. Bummer. But I already reported that. (Anyone ever had to do that for this company? How’d you go about it?)
Anyway, they came itty bitty! The comparison is they’re about 1/4 an inch and the ghost are about and inch. Big difference.
I notice the ghost, like usual, are on the floor. And the new red ones are in my plants.
Are they scared of the ghost? Or is this just were that type of shrimp likes to hang? Will they be friends or are my ghost going to hurt them?

Yeah, it’s a 20 gllon, and they live with guppies and otto cats who pretty much leave them alone.

I got you buddy. As far as shrimp go Ghost shrimp are kinda aggressive to other shrimp. What size tank are they in ? If its like a 20 you will have no problem I would think. Although the size difference will make them a target but the ghosts should not go after them as long as they are well fed.
Your ghosts must be different than mine because mine all hang out in the plants, course they are with fish too so maybe they feel threatened or something. But your Cherry’s will hide almost always in the plants, they eat lots of algae as opposed to ghost’s who only eat it if they can’t find any other food. As long as they got flakes on the floor and the Cherry’s have algae on the plants most likely they will not fight or come across each other that much. Watch them closely, shrimp like to eat smaller shrimp. Good Luck
Edit: Also LiveAquaria is great as far as replacing and customer service is concerned. I would bet they send you a couple more little shrimps.
